COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jason’s Friends will host the Gillette Bowl event at Camelanes Bowling Center on Saturday, March 7 (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) to raise funds for Wyoming families facing childhood cancer and easing financial burdens during treatment. The event promises a family-friendly day that brings the community together.  County 17

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Campbell County regular gasoline prices rose by 10 cents to $2.80 today as Wyoming's state average increased 4 cents to $2.68 and the national average climbed 2.6 cents, according to GasBuddy data.  County 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gillette Community College District Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Technical Education Center to review tenure decisions for five faculty, Jan. 2026 financials, and staffing updates, and will ratify a new foundation board member (Lora Egbert) following recent property transfers.  County 17
  • The Wyoming Senate reintroduced a bill to fund public schools on Friday after a House vote failed to reach the needed two-thirds majority. The unanimous measure now sits with the Senate Education Committee for review and may affect teacher pay + class sizes across districts.  County 17
  • On Monday, the Senate Education Committee advanced two literacy bills aimed at boosting early reading intervention in state schools by funding a full-time literacy position with $540,000 over two fiscal years. The proposals now await further debate and possible approval.  County 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Campbell County residents should prepare for dangerous fire weather as strong westerly winds with gusts up to 55 mph and very low humidity prompt a Fire Weather Watch, and a cold front Tuesday night is forecast to bring breezy conditions and a chance of snow before colder temperatures arrive.  County 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wyoming mogul skier Jaelin Kauf won her third Olympic silver medal after finishing five points behind Australia's Jakara Anthony during the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics in Livigno on Saturday+ she recovered from a near tumble when a competitor was disqualified. This strong finish brings another proud moment for Wyoming athletes.  County 17
  • Indoor football returned to Gillette on Saturday as the Wyoming Cavalry won a blowout game against the Central New York Blue Devils at the Cam-plex Wyoming Center — making a strong first impression this season.  Gillette News Record
